KOURT's Community Pickleball League for Adults (& Teens)

KOURT Community Pickleball League is intended to be a  welcoming local space where people can be active, have fun, and stay regularly connected with others in their local community.  It’s as much about friendship as it is about fitness.  Its a place where people can take a moment out of their busy lives  to relax, laugh, and enjoy themselves.  Just like when they were kids!

To keep the league accessible, we’ve kept fees very low --just enough to cover basic costs-- and have created a structure wherein players at all levels can participate, from complete beginners to more advanced players:

For Complete Beginners

The goal of this league is to create a fun, welcoming experience for players at all levels and to remove barriers to getting started.   So  if you are a total beginner, you are in the right place. We offer a free introductory class (see below) and ongoing guidance and support.   Even if you don't have a  paddle you  can  rent one for the entire season a small fee (see below).

Free "Introduction to Pickleball" Class!

At your first class you will be given the option to participate in a free 30 minute "Introduction to Pickleball" class to be taught the rules and basic techniques.  This class will provide you with all of  the knowledge you will need to take part in your subsequent pickleball match. The  coach on duty will also  be visiting your court throughout the course of the matches to provide support and answer any questions you may have.

For Competitive Types

If you’re more competitive, we’ve got you covered too. Players are matched against others at a similar level, and results each week are used to group players accordingly. As the season progresses, stronger players  will naturally move into higher tiers, competing against one another and ultimately playing for the season title.

For Mature Kids

While this is primarily an adult league, we will also allow kids to join if they demonstrate an appropriate level of play and maturity.  In fact, adults might join with their children and if there are enough teens we may even create a separate category  of play for them.

How Does it work?

Once you  sign up you will  be  scheduled into matches each week according to responses in your Registration Form regarding your: 1) availability; 2) skill level; 3); preferences regarding match type (e.g., singles or doubles) and any preferences regarding who you would like to play with (e.g., spouse, child, friend, who is also joining).  Matches in subsequent weeks will then also be informed by  your match results in the prior week, ensuring that you are continually being challenge at the appropriate level.

Supervised Activities For Your Kids While You Play

Over the years we have  heard from our parents about how difficult it is stay active and take  part in activities, while also  having to supervise their kids.   We are responding to that  challenge by providing supervised activities for your kids on a designated court while you enjoy your  pickleball.

For just $3 per session your child can also join in the fun. The kids play area will be supervised by the coach on duty,  assisted by older kids in the club, who will facilitate fun activities and keep them engaged. That way, you can focus on your game, knowing your kids are also having a blast.

Location & What You Need To Bring

The nets &  balls will be provided.  You can choose to bring your own paddle or rent one for a small fee  (see below).  Be sure to wear sneakers and  comfortable attire and to bring water in case it is needed.

Matches take place on the tennis courts at Riverdale Collegiate Institute, where 9 pickleball courts will be set up.  Information on this location below:
